A Letter From The Owners

When we first discovered Shiloh in 2012, we knew we had found something truly special. It wasn’t just a house, it was a home that gave us space, tranquility, and a deep connection to the countryside. We needed an annex for an elderly relative, and with one of us working in the area, it was the perfect fit.

Shiloh has given us so much over the years. Nestled in an idyllic countryside setting, it has felt like a true retreat while still being just 15 minutes from Launceston and the A30, making travel easy for work and everyday life. We’ve loved how close we are to the coast—Bude and Widemouth Bay are only 20 minutes away, where we’ve spent countless days walking the dogs on the beach, surfing, and soaking up the sea air. The added bonus of Okehampton’s railway station just 30 minutes away, with direct links to Exeter and London, made staying connected effortless.

One of the things we’ll miss most is the view. The rolling countryside stretches as far as the eye can see, and at night, the skies are breathtaking—no light pollution, just endless stars. The peace and quiet here is something truly rare, shared with only five lovely neighbours, including a farm at the end of our private lane. Over the years, they’ve become friends, and we know we’ll miss that sense of community.

Inside, the house has always felt warm and welcoming, thanks to its oil central heating and our beloved wood-fuelled Esse range, which adds so much charm and character. It’s been a joy to come home to.

The outdoor space has been just as special to us. With just under an acre of gardens, there’s always been plenty of room to relax, garden, or entertain. The wooden decking has been our favourite spot, there’s nothing quite like enjoying a quiet coffee in the morning or unwinding at the end of the day with a glass of wine, watching the landscape change with the seasons.

Shiloh has been everything we could have hoped for in a home, and leaving it is bittersweet. It has served its purpose for us, and now it’s time for a new chapter, moving closer to family in Plymouth. But we know that whoever finds their way here next will be just as enchanted as we were. If you’re looking for a well-connected rural retreat with space, natural beauty, and a real sense of community, we truly believe Shiloh will be the perfect place to call home.

We hope you love it as much as we have.
